ENTREPRENEURS EN HERBE (ENTREPHE) springs from a two-fold desire: firstly to empower artisans, including those in the informal employment sector in the developing regions of the world to contribute to the creation of employment, and secondly to facilitate the entry into the labour market of young people demonstrating a passion for entrepreneurship. To fulfil these objectives, we specifically target producers of functional and decorative handicrafts, artefacts, objects of art and aim to provide a viable web-based platform where their talent is advertised and their exposure to the international market is enhanced, in the hope of eliciting demand, augmenting revenue and thus stimulating the creation of employment. Equally, to facilitate the entry of youngsters from the developing regions into the labour market, we propose to provide a residential training hub for the acquisition of skills in a variety of spheres of activity.
On the global scale, we believe that a significant proportion of the crafts of the world may be attributed to indigenous peoples. In light of this intersection between the economic / entrepreneurial objectives of this NGO and the work of organisations dedicated to promoting the rights of such groups, we seek to forge partnerships in a joint effort to foster mutual progress and to contribute to the application and furtherance of convention 169 of the International Labour Organisation cf. Convention C169 - Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Convention, 1989 (No. 169) (ilo.org).
